SHE'S 25!!!

I gave up Facebook for a little while, but I did go to say happy birthday to my daughter, Danielle. Should have done the same here. Well, I at least can put a quick something up. She has been such a fun and funny daughter...not without the trials, but I love her to death. She has grown up to be a beautiful young lady and has been on her own for a few years now. I still worry about her, but she seems to be doing fine. She figures things out. She's busy with school and work. And she's getting ready to graduate from the University of Oregon in June. Wow! She turned 25 yesterday and I hope she had a great day. I love you so much, Danielle-e.   (You can find more pictures/story in my February 2009 blogs - Danielle)

God Is Like....

God is like Coca-Cola

     He's the real thing.

     He cared enough to send the very best.

     He gets out stains that others leave behind.

I feel like He's my shopping list. God is so much more than all these descriptions, but after reading this again, when I shop, I just may remember these things and make up my own, too. It's a good thing He's always there for me, and not in a bottle or a can or store. He's everywhere I go and He goes ahead of me. What a comfort!
 

Going through computer files

I decided to go through files and clean them out since there are things in there I don't need and never look at anymore. I found some fun things I copied way back when I first started "chatting" with other Christians I met online. They shared some fun stuff. So, here you go (I'll share them off and on when I can't think of anything else to blog). (The pic = Pray...Go. I think some people might remember this.)

    (though I knew you didn't mind),

So, We're Boring...

We can be so pathetic sometimes. We've been here in the LA area for almost a year and we can't think of things to do for fun. So for our anniversary, we spent half the day trying to decide what to do. We got in the car and just started driving. Stopped at Blockbuster, tried to find a particular Italian Restaurant and got there when it was "closed". It was actually only open for take-out until dinner started at 4:00pm. Then we decided to just to go Olive Garden. Good choice. We finished our Linner (whatever Lunch/Dinner is since it was in-between) and just started driving again.











We started driving South on PCH for a change and found a couple of places to get out and just take in God's creation. One of the places we stopped was Roessier Point.












There was this pile of cat food in the middle of the walkway to the gazebo. We heard the meows of the cats around. This one came up to the fence as we were getting into our van. I wanted to take him home, but, of course, couldn't.

We then stopped at 7-Eleven for a drink and snack. And...Dan bought me a rose for our anniversary. One that will last forever. He didn't want me to write this, but I had to share. I did joke about getting it, but decided I did want it after all. Too cute!

We found this trail and decided to walk around it to see where it led. And then we saw this sign - Dan said he already broke a rule: He thought about it, even before we saw the sign. Funny Dan.














We ended up here: Point Vicente Interpretive Center. While we were there, there was a group set up with their binoculars and charts and they were watching to see what whales they could see and wrote down information: what type of whale, time they saw it, etc. And we did see a whale heading south. The sun started going down, too. Beautiful.









And, AND...we couldn't believe it (though some of you might even know or remember this), but we found this old beat up sign right outside the museum. Can you read what it says in the top, right-hand corner? MARINELAND!!! I remember going to Marineland when I was little, but I sure didn't remember it was here. What a shock!

The rest of our drive was through San Pedro. We had looked for a place to live here because it was such a pretty area. But, Dan wasn't sure about the commute...he still might consider it, but right now we aren't in any position to try and move again.

So that was our anniversary day. Kind of boring at first, but ended up being a very nice time of seeing God's creation and fun surprises.

Getting Organized

I have a lot of fun reading blogs about organizing and seeing the pictures of makeovers of others' homes and rooms. I love the ideas, but am not in a big place to be able to use some of those suggestions. One teeny, tiny thing I've done so far...and I mean tiny -- my cookbooks and recipe holders are all in storage right now, but I keep finding fun recipes through the blogs I read. I'm trying not to collect too many, but I did have some clipped out and sitting in a pile for awhile, until now. I found these cute little picture albums (4x6) and decided to just put recipes in these for now. I have main dishes and side dishes in the blue and desserts, appetizers and other things like that in the pink. They sit neatly next to the only cookbook I have (Grace Church cookbook) on top of the microwave. I have no storage, so this is perfect - for now.
